Peninsula Memories

Stories of the railwaymen and women of Eyre Peninsula (South Australia)

Peninsula Memories Following on from the release of Peninsula Pioneer (the definitive history of the Port Lincoln Division) in 2006, a companion volume has been prepared and was released at the centenary of the Port Lincoln - Cummins line on 18 November 2007.

This book is quite different from its predecessor. It is an informal collection of recollections and anecdotes drawn from people who lived and worked on the Peninsula. As such, it brings to life the everyday exploits of those who worked on the railway or whose lives were affected by it.

Many photographs are included, illustrating various aspects of the Port Lincoln Division which are now long gone as well as some up-to-date scenes. Modellers of the South Australian prototype will also find much of interest, as the photos cover many subjects and not just trains (although there are plenty of those). A number of plans are included, such as a railway cottage and barracks buildings.

Peninsula Memories is A4 size, 170 pages, and is published by Peter Knife on behalf of the Eyre Peninsula Railway Preservation Society Inc. (Port Lincoln Railway Museum). The recommended retail price is $25.00, plus $9.00 postage and packing for mail orders.
